Cold Drawn Steel Pipe
Product Description
Cold Drawn Steel Pipe is a high-precision seamless steel tube manufactured by pulling a hot-rolled hollow billet (mother tube) through a die at room temperature. This process, known as cold drawing, reduces the diameter and wall thickness of the pipe while significantly elongating it. Unlike hot-rolled pipes, cold drawn pipes are characterized by their exceptionally smooth surface finish, tight dimensional tolerances, and superior mechanical properties. They are typically produced from carbon steels (like 10#, 20#, 45#) or alloy steels, complying with standards such as GB/T 3639, DIN 2391, or ASTM A519.

Features & Advantages
High Dimensional Accuracy: Offers extremely tight tolerances on outer diameter and wall thickness (often within ±0.05mm), making it ideal for precision engineering where fit is critical.
Superior Surface Finish: The cold drawing process results in a smooth, bright, and oxide-free surface, often eliminating the need for further machining or polishing.
Enhanced Mechanical Strength: The cold working process increases the yield strength and tensile strength of the steel through strain hardening, making the pipe stronger than its hot-rolled counterpart.
Complex Shapes: Capable of being drawn into various cross-sectional shapes (round, square, rectangular, hexagonal) to meet specific design requirements.
Excellent Machinability: The uniform structure and smooth surface allow for high-speed machining, reducing tool wear and production time.
Product Applications
Hydraulic & Pneumatic Cylinders: The primary material for cylinder barrels due to its smooth inner surface which prevents seal wear and ensures leak-tight performance.
Automotive Industry: Used for manufacturing shock absorber casings, drive shafts, bearing sleeves, and precision transmission components.
Precision Machinery: Ideal for linear motion shafts, guide rails, and rollers in industrial equipment.
Construction & Architecture: Often used for scaffolding props and architectural structures where a high-quality aesthetic finish is required.
Oil & Gas: Suitable for instrument tubing and small-diameter lines requiring high pressure resistance and precision.
