2507 Duplex Stainless Steel Pipe
The 2507 Super Duplex Stainless Steel Pipe (UNS S32750) represents the pinnacle of duplex technology, classified as a "super duplex" alloy. It is engineered with a precisely balanced microstructure of approximately 50% austenite and 50% ferrite, designed to withstand the most aggressive service conditions encountered in modern industry. With a significantly higher content of chromium (25%), molybdenum (4%), and nitrogen (0.3%) compared to standard duplex grades like 2205, 2507 offers a dramatic leap in both corrosion resistance and mechanical strength.
2507 is an ultra-duplex stainless steel including 25% chromium, 4% molybdenum and 7% nickel. In terms of chemical composition, the chromium and molybdenum content of 2507 stainless steel is relatively high, which leads to its superior corrosion resistance to various acids. The duplex construction of 2507 stainless steel gives it excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking. Cracks are an inevitable problem in construction and other related fields, and 2507 stainless steel can perform excellent corrosion resistance in an environment containing chloride ions, making it an excellent option for construction and related industries. 2507 stainless steel also has excellent mechanical properties with high compressive strength, impact strength and low coefficient of thermal expansion, which is why it is often put into use in oil and gas industry, and fields such as water treatment, fire protection, desalination equipment, mechanical parts and fuel gas purification equipment.

Manufactured strictly to standards such as ASTM A790 (Seamless and Welded Pipe) and ASTM A928 (Welded Pipe with filler metal), 2507 pipes are produced using advanced processes to maintain the integrity of the dual-phase structure. This meticulous production ensures the pipe retains its exceptional properties even after welding, eliminating the need for post-weld heat treatment in most cases.
The defining characteristic of 2507 is its extraordinary resistance to localized corrosion. It possesses a Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN) of ≥ 43, far exceeding that of 2205 (PREN ~35) and 316L (PREN ~25). This high PREN value translates to outstanding immunity to pitting and crevice corrosion in high-chloride environments, such as seawater and brine. Furthermore, 2507 exhibits superior resistance to Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC) and general corrosion. Mechanically, it boasts a yield strength roughly three times that of 316L stainless steel, enabling massive weight savings in structural designs and high-pressure systems.
Consequently, 2507 Super Duplex pipes are the material of choice for extreme environments, including offshore oil and gas platforms (flowlines, risers, umbilical tubes), subsea pipelines, desalination plants, and flue gas desulfurization systems. In summary, the 2507 Duplex Stainless Steel Pipe is the ultimate solution for projects facing severe corrosion threats, delivering uncompromising performance and long-term reliability where standard duplex and austenitic steels cannot survive.
