The 302 Stainless Steel Pipe is a classic, general-purpose austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel. As one of the earliest developed stainless steel grades, it is essentially a higher carbon version of the now more common 304 grade. This composition gives 302 slightly higher tensile strength and hardness, making it a robust choice for applications requiring both corrosion resistance and mechanical durability.

Characterized by its good formability and weldability, 302 stainless steel pipe is typically produced via seamless or welded methods and conforms to standards such as ASTM A312. While it offers excellent resistance to atmospheric corrosion and a wide range of mild chemicals, it is susceptible to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-rich environments like seawater.

Primarily used in architectural, structural, and industrial applications, 302 pipe is valued for its bright, attractive finish and its ability to maintain strength at moderately elevated temperatures. It serves as a reliable, cost-effective solution for components like tubing, sleeves, and structural supports where extreme corrosion resistance is not the primary concern.

302 stainless steel pipe has excellent plasticity and toughness and works for various processing techniques, including cold working, so it can be manufactured in different shapes. And 302 stainless steel has good corrosion resistance, especially in oxidizing acids, atmosphere, steam and water. However, 302 stainless steel does not suit intergranular corrosion environments, so it is not recommended for environments with risks of intergranular corrosion. The chemical composition and performance characteristics of 302 stainless steel make it an ideal material for a variety of applications, including the manufacture of structural parts, weldments, non-magnetic components and cryogenic device components.
